Summer 2023: 42, Ambition, Ken Poyner

Quibble is quick to make the distinction for polite company:  there are rogue violinists, who know the tenets of civilization and at times abandon them; and feral violinists, who have no understanding of the preferred order in their lives.  One secretly meets to play, one plays secrets when they meet.  It is an important distinction, if only to Quibble.  A feral violinist he can never be, already apprised of the nails and boards that craft a community.  But rogue, to the misapplication of his neighbors, he might achieve.  If he could but master the omnivorous strings, emancipate the carnal scales.

*This is a drabble, a form of short, short fiction with precisely 100 words.
