[2025:45] Mysterious Paths, Catherine A. Coundjeris

The moon is a super moon
and that means the deer will play
at odd hours of the day.

Crossing roads and frolicking
in our yard at noon. There are
several different herds nearby.

A beautiful young buck with
gorgeous antlers locked eyes
with me through the window

as it meandered on its evening
jaunt. Oh how I dread hunting
season in November. I pray it makes it through.

If only he knew to linger out of the
way under the shade of our hill.
He would be safe, but alas

deer will roam on their mysterious
paths from wood to glen to yard
and back again, going where they will.
