It begins with a suspicious

hunger and a mysterious

absence of perspective

that keeps him from seeing what’s obvious

to everybody else, like a patient

who is conscious

but unable to move:

of course, it could have been different,

there’s actually a moment

when it appears

everything is going to work out,

then the action veers

around to its opposite,

as Aristotle put it.
