[31] Silence, Bhisma Upreti

I am a friend to silence
as silence is to me.

We look at each other,
smirk,
share each other’s vacuity
and, while speaking no words
confess each other’s weaknesses
and yet, engage in no squabbles.

We stay together at home,
walk around, enter books
and get lost in woods of words
We get screened,
like a distraction
Then, in the light of feelings and knowledge,
we doze off together with words
covered in warmth,
as we dream together.

Yes, we are alone
standing together.

I am a friend to silence
as silence is to me.
