[37] Bully for You, Patrick Theron Erickson

You were a bully
when we bellied up
to the monkey bars
as mere kids

You were a bully then
and you are a bully still
as we belly up to the bar
over some sort of monkey business
or other

I guess we never did
master the parallel bars
or learn to go our separate ways
on parallel paths

you the perpetual bully
and I a well-rounded
passive-aggressive
in the here and now
and hereafter
ever after

All our peers said
I should have knocked
your block off

or at least that chip
on your shoulder

Bully for you
a black eye for me!
